ACCESSIBILITY NOTICE

At Operation Spitfire 4 Schools, we understand the importance of accessibility. One of our 4 key principles is inclusion. We have consciously worked to ensure that inclusion is a real part of our website.

Our website meets the requirements of the WCAG AA standards. The four main principles of the WCAG are that a website should be Perceivable, Operable, Understandable and Robust.

We have taken the following steps to ensure accessibility:

  • Text Alternatives: All imagery has ALT text provided. ARIA labels are provided on all buttons.
  • Time-based media: All videos have the option of closed captions.
  • Adaptable: The website is built with proper HTML structure and use of semantic tags. Items are sequenced logically. Items are not accessible/understandable by design/colour alone.
  • Distinguishable: Colour contrast is considered through the site with a minimum of 4 to 1. The only exception are a few occasions where, for branding purposes, we have yellow background and white text. Relative measures are used for text so that increasing the browser font size will increase the website font size. Responsive is also built in so that zooming in to increase size will maintain readability.
  • Keyboard accessible: the website can be navigated by using a keyboard alone.
  • Navigable: A skip to content option is provided. Sections are labelled so a screen reader can process them. Focus order is set. Item focus is clear. ARIA labels are used on all buttons. A top menu, on-page links and a site map are provided to navigate the site.
  • Input Modalities: The site does not use complex navigation features. All items are single-click buttons with a clear purpose.
  • Readable: Each page is set to the English language.
  • Predictable: Navigation and buttons work in a consistent manner.
  • Compatible: This site can be navigated and processed by a variety of user agents.
